A fabulous original oil painting on canvas by Frank Hider. A very talented artist who was known for his extensive coastal views and far reaching river landscapes. He was born in London and travelled extensively around the British Isles. Two of his eight children Mabel and Christopher also became painters and their works are often misattributed to their father. Frank header is represented in several public collections and one of his works,Moonlit street scene is with the National Trust at Rufford old Hall.

This fabulous painting depicts figures on a rocky shore bellow the cliffs. The sky is particularly beautiful and the painting is a stunning 19th century depiction of the British Coast. Probably Devon.

Signed lower right quite faint after some cleaning of the picture.

Unframed.
