Arthur Wood Madrid Vase.

The Arthur Wood Pottery house was established in 1884 in Longport, Stoke-on-Trent. Initially, their focus was utilitarian wares, before making a name for themselves creating beautiful teapots (which remain extremely collectable to this day). Arthur Wood became sole owner in 1904, trading up until 1928 when the company name was changed to Arthur Wood & Sons Limited and further ranges of tableware were introduced. In 1967, the company acquired the Carlton Works Pottery and continued manufacturing ranges under the Carlton Ware name. Trading continued right up until 1989 when the company became part of Price & Kensington Potteries. In 2003, Arthur Wood Group PLC went into administration. The name and intellectual property was purchased by Rayware Ltd.

The vase is in excellent condition (and can be dated to the late 1960's to early 1970's), featuring only superficial scratches and scuff marks commensurate with age and use. The stunning, deep green glaze absolutely pops whether illuminated by natural or artificial light.
