A superb original watercolour painting. Showing a typical French market day with locals buying their provisions. A charming relaxed painting that transports you back to a lovely peaceful afternoon in rural France. The style of the people is particularly interesting and they all have their own unique characters even tho they are painted very simply, there is even a little dog trotting along behind his owner.

John painted from a very early age. Born in Abergavenny, Gwent, he was awarded an Honours Certificate from the Royal School of Art when he was six years old. After Technical College, he was apprenticed as a Commercial Artist at Gloucester, and attended Gloucester School of Art.

Moving to London, and working as a fashion illustrator and designer, he continued to paint, and studied under Claude Muncaster at his Summer Schools at Petworth. His work has been extensively exhibited in most of the main London Open Exhibitions, and he has had many one man shows, including several at the Fairfield Hall. His work has been toured nationally with the Arts Council of Great Britain.

An admirer of the great tradition of British watercolour painting of the nineteenth century, he now works principally in this medium, and finds much beautiful scenery and inspiration in the Shropshire countryside where he lived in the latter part of his life.
