A superb still life by Piero Sansalvadore an Italian artist who moved to the UK in the 1930’s.
Well known for his scenes of London and Cornish harbours he painted from his studio in Kensington London.
This stunning still life is unusual being the only still life to come to for sale in recent years. Perhaps painted in his studio in Kensington showing stacked frames in the background. Painted in thick oils with a really beautiful tone and light to the flowers. The petals seem to almost move. The frames signifying his work and the paintings he would leave behind for future generations to enjoy.
Circa 1940 painted on board inscription to verso.
Framed in a solid wooden frame of the period.
