Persian water Jug.
A superb example of an Indo- Persian Qajar dynasty hand etched water jug in good condition.
The jug is made of heavy gauge copper, that has been profusely hand chased, with paisley pattern motifs, using the ornamental Persian buta or boteh, a teardrop-shaped motif, with a curved upper end. There are also incised cartouches and borders of geometric patterns.
18th century in age. For its age it’s in remarkable condition. Some dents as you may expect and lovely wear to the copper with silver highlights.
Holds water so beautiful for flowers and as a table centre piece.
If only this could talk ! A lovely tactile item with lots of character.
26 cm high x 15 cm diameter approximately
