Made in the tribal villages around the city of Shiraz.
These rugs often depict nightingales, which are shown as angular-shaped birds. These birds are said to symbolise contentment and happiness.
This is a lovely example dating from around 1960. Beautiful soft colours and in excellent condition. A very useful size.
These rugs just get better and better with age and add instant country house style to a room. They are works of art for your floor. Usually woven by women. The men shearing the sheep to provide the wool which is dyed using natural plant based colours.
