Showing a Cornish harbour in the early 19th Century.
It’s a beautifully atmospheric painting in a lovely simple yet moving style. You can really sense the drama happening around the harbour.
The life boat is pulled up into the shore and surrounded by crew and village folk. The wife of one of the men is kissing him goodbye possibly for the last time who knows ?
A sailing ship can be seen out in the distance upon a very stormy sea.
It’s a really beautiful snapshot of life in Cornwall in the 19th Century.

Signed what looks like G R Ingrahm dated 09.
Nice overall condition. The painting itself in very good condition varnished at some point . A few marks to the original wooden frame.
