Antique Brass And Marble Egyptian Revival Bookends.

A fabulous pair of antique Egyptian revival bookends. The Sphinx are made in brass with a lovely patina that has developed down the years. The figures are mounted upon marble plinths.

Possibly bought back to the UK on a trip to Egypt in the early to mid 20th Century.

Unusually they are marked with names on the marble. One reads H M White the other is indistinguishable.

We assume they were the names of the previous owners.

Nice overall condition there are several chips to the back of one marble stands but for the age this would be expected.

All in all a fascinating pair of antique bookends from Cairo.
