Gavriil Gluck Ukrainian Soviet Oil Painting Spring Is Coming 70 x 60cm

An original mid-20th-century oil on canvas by Gavriil Martynovich Gluck (1912–1983), also known as Gabriel Gluck, an important Ukrainian Soviet painter associated with the Transcarpathian school.

Titled “Скоро весна” — “Spring Is Coming” — the painting depicts a snow-covered Carpathian village at the beginning of the spring thaw. A wonderfully atmospheric composition with strong modernist handling and a beautifully muted palette of blues, pinks, ochres and earthy greens.

Signed by the artist at the lower right.

The reverse retains its original Soviet “All-Union Art Lottery” label, inscribed:

Artist: Глюк Г. М. — Gluck G. M.
Title: Скоро весна — Spring Is Coming
Inventory number: 650274

The stretcher is additionally inscribed “Gabriel Gluck” and “Transcarpathian School”.

Gluck studied art in Budapest and later lived and worked in Uzhhorod. His paintings are represented in major museum collections, including the State Tretyakov Gallery and national museums in Ukraine.

Oil on canvas, presented in a painted wooden frame and ready to hang.

Overall framed dimensions: approximately 70 x 60 cm.

The painting presents very well, with age-related wear consistent with a vintage original. The frame has some minor marks and wear, while the important original paper label on the reverse is worn and partially detached. Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form part of the description.

A substantial and highly decorative original work by a recognised Ukrainian artist, with excellent surviving period identification and provenance.
